The Current Elder: White Wolf Von Atzingen

Picture

Picture
White Wolf Von Atzingen was born in Ft. Dix army Base, but grew up in the Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania. This is where his training began in the martial arts. In school he wrestled for 5 years as well as participated for a time in swim-team and the racquetball team. He became a 10th degree black belt (Judan)and Kikeyjumhet/Elder (Grandmaster) in Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu.  He also studied in Shao-lin kung fu, 18 hand lohan kung fu and Muai Thai,  Hsing i Ch'uan, Tai Chi Ch'uan and Chi Kung.  He has also studied and practiced Glima, the old challenge fighting style of his Viking ancestors.  The 4 styles he studied are Lausatok, Hryggspenna, Brokartok, and Axlatok; Lausatok being his favorite.
His master, Elder Meechgalanne, told him he was required to study other arts along side Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu to understand other views, practices and enhance the true embodiment of a warrior within. When he was in his teens he fought in street fight rings. Though his passion has always been for his original style, Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu. He has studied numerous styles of sword, knife and tomahawk; short-stick, bow staff, cane, spear (long and short), sai, nunchuck, and tonfa.  In his prime he could swim 2 miles in the open ocean, sprint full speed for 2/3rd a mile at 400 feet elevation before his lower face would start to go numb, and spar at 90% impact for hours at a time without tiring.  He used to train regularly at elevations between 9,000 and 10,000 feet, so physical activities at lower elevations became easy.  However, for 16 years in action plus another 4 of specialized training,  much of his training was combat directed and employed and took major precedence over specific martial style. White Wolf began his martial training in 1980 and he has been training and utilizing his skills ever since.  White Wolf has also climbed numerous mountains.  His climb history can be seen below.

A few of Elder White Wolf's core skills in the ways of combat are:
  • CQC - close quarters combat
  • GC - ground combat
  • WD - weapons disarmament
  • EW - edged weapons, knife, sword...
  • OHH - offensive hand-to-hand combat
  • PCP - psychological combat preparation
  • OD - the offensive defense
  • LD - lethal defense
  • IW - improvised weapons
  • ER - energy reading
  • PR - posture reading
  • EPsy - element psychology
  • IES - internal energy sustainment
  • EZC - energy zone progression and control

For 3 year years he was trained in elite covert and combat skills through the S.O.E.S. “Scorpion” Program, in connection with the intelligence agencies of America. After which he went on to 16 years of specialized field work for the agency program, including more specialized training spanning a few years through both private and military compounds. The Black Scorpion Program (SOES) was a paramilitary division of the Special Operations Group known as SOG.

In opposition to many martial arts websites and "combat sport" schools, you won't find a long list of tournaments and awards connected to Elder White Wolf's name.  The reason is simple.  He was mainly taught in the ways of actual combat, not sport combat.  The intent behind the teachings of actual combat and sport combat are very different.  Elder White Wolf grew up training in and then spent almost two decades employed in combat, not sport tournaments.  MMA and other varieties of "sport combat" are not actual combat and the intention behind the practice is mainly for submission or knockout.  There is a referee, rules, codes of conduct, protective equipment and typically a 1-on-1 scenario.  It is truly a sport aimed at conduct, technique and the win.  The aim is not to kill.

Make no mistake; the athletes participating in the "combat sports" are to be commended for their skill, endurance, focus and all that goes along with an elite sport, because they deserve it!  Just be aware that the title "combat sport" is derived out of a very different training, mind-set and confrontation than actual combat, and why those sport practitioners are able to gain medals and trophies.  In actual combat the only trophy you can hope to take away is your life.

Combat sport practitioners have sought out Elder White Wolf and people with similar histories for training to see and understand the difference, just as many people from actual combat backgrounds have gone into combat sports.

Since he was 9 years old, Elder White Wolf has held the Earth Path and Wilderness Ways in his heart, as well as his heritage of both northern Germania and Scandinavia, primarily Norway and Iceland.  Currently he teaches Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu, Kenjitsu and Combat Awareness, as well as outdoor skills and Viking age lore.

H
is name does not come from Native American background as many assume. Both sides of his family have detailed family trees documenting his strong genetic linage in Teutonic, Norse, Dane, Germanic Saxon, Helvetian and Swede. Through his family tree his blood has been traced back to the White Wolf Clan of Iceland, who were Norse Vikings who sailed to and settled the land. It is within those lineage traditions were his name originates.

He is very much Viking at heart.  Elder White Wolf not only crafts tribal, Viking and Scandinavian and Mountain Man pieces through Viking Wolf Craft, and home brews authentic wild-ferment mead, but has traveled and explored greatly throughout the Western hemisphere, studies the old Eddas and history of his ancestors and deeply follows the open ways of their pre-Christian Scandinavian and northern Germanic beliefs.

Suffering from many wounds and grievous injuries over the course of over 16 years of field work, and even torture,  Elder White Wolf became quite proficient in the art of self healing and understanding the deeper and more complex energies of the human body. This has greatly increased his awareness of self, life and enhanced his skills dramatically.  Just some of the injuries his body has endured, but not all; 20 broken and or cracked bones, 7 severed tendons, many sprains of ankle and wrist, 5 chest wall contusions, a partially collapsed chest wall, 7 major concussions, 5 stab wounds, one shattered foot, broken teeth, over 35 major lacerations, two dislocated shoulders, many lacerated tendons and torn ligaments, chronic sinusitis, damaged spleen stomach and small intestine from being poisoned in chemical warfare many years ago.  Through years of study he attained a master level in Nord Seiðr Lækning and is a Seiðr Græðari today.
Still today he works weekly with health-care professionals in the continual process of healing from years of intense trauma and physical damage.

In 2005 he was poisoned as a result of a direct attack of chemical warfare. The poison almost claimed his life and he remained bedridden for an entire winter. It took Elder White Wolf 4 long years working weekly, and sometimes daily, with professional healthcare specialists to heal his body enough to where he could once again begin embracing a “normal” life once more. It then took him another 4 years to regain the integrity of his immune system. All the while he diligently focused on internal energy work and the deepest core levels of personal spirituality. A new stone in his life was turned over.

Still today he works on a regular basis closely with a healing team to address the ongoing issues from nerve damage, chronic pain, ptsd/cptsd, lung, spleen, adrenal struggles, thyroid complications, a partially collapsed chest wall and a slew of other remaining challenges from a life of extreme living. A couple of his healthcare team professionals only work with police officers and veterans, because they themselves were one or the other and have a more dynamic understanding of the challenges vets and police face.

Through his extensive martial arts training Elder White Wolf is also trained in:
  • 5 element theory,
  • organ internal relation,
    • Sheng cycle
    • Ke cycle
  • 24 organ bio-clock,
  • pressure point theory,
  • acupressure,
  • 12 meridian concepts,
  • extra meridian concepts,
  • meridian, organ and energy massage techniques,
  • cupping,
  • moxabustion,
  • herbs and supplements,
  • stagnation venting,
  • swelling dispersal,
  •  color theory,
  • general structure realignment,
  • grounding techniques,
  • meditation,
  • meditation in movement,
  • visualization,
  • breathing techniques,
  • sky or landscape vision,
  • focused vision,
  • qi gong,
  • energy cultivation,
  • energy condensing,
  • energy expansion,
  • yes, and more -

Once he had enough energy and health integrity he opened a wilderness exploration school called Element Mountain and taught for 10 years. Since 1980 Kikeyjumhet/Elder White Wolf has been studying and practicing Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu and has been following the Viking ways of his ancestors since childhood.

A Personal View and Account of the current Kikeyjumhet/Elder:

The first time I met Elder White Wolf I was bewildered, for his was an energy unlike that of any other I’ve encountered. In my opinion he does much and has worked very much to appear very normal, but I remember the totality of his energy hitting me like a hammer.

Then of course I got used to his energy, you know, pretty much like if meeting an animal you’ve never encountered before,  you’re at first stunned but when after five minutes the animal is still there and the world still keeps turning, you kind of accept that this is the way things are now and adapt. What makes it easy also is the way he is at ease with his past allowing him to speak of past atrocities the way we speak of going to buy some groceries.

But then, when you witness him in martial arts action it’s a whole different ball game. That’s when you get a glimpse of the ruthlessness and the juggernaut-like self-confidence needed to perfectly execute technique without hesitation. Unwavering trust in his skill. You get an inkling of the confidence and skill needed to make quick decisions that could cost your life.

It’s a weird kind of energy since I haven’t faced it before. It is something I might imagine up but then there’s always something a little unnerving in the fact that I’m in a small room with a person who could kill me in seconds and there is NOTHING I could do stop him. The feeling is a combination of fear, respect, helplessness and confusion, among other things.

I’d rather have a huge weight-lifter attack me than him, because with anyone there’s always the chance of confusing them, distracting them, outsmarting them, finding a weakness either physically or mentally or being so furious and crazy that they’ll get discouraged. But with Elder White Wolf you sense that he is mentally so strong that if he makes his mind up about something he won’t deter from it. In the fight game, it’s at least 50% mental, how resolved are you? Well, he is resolved. It’s like trying to stop a train by jumping in front of it.

Having said that, I have had the pleasure of witnessing his many abilities in action, not out of the want to see him proof himself, but just as a part of my continued affiliation with him.

While in his jujitsu classes and when in close contact with him I can feel the surprising power produced from his light thin frame to be staggering. It feels like there is more than just physical strength, an energetic push, like using the Force in Star Wars. His whole body seemed to emanate this grounded chi-force and I for one felt there was nothing I could do to repel this force even though I am very skilled physically and much larger.

Also, when shooting material for a project I was a training dummy for him to demonstrate his striking skills. He always only slightly touched me with each lightning fast strike but every strike even with that greatly diminished intention felt pretty darn hard as he tapped me in all areas of my upper body and head. I was being hit several times per second from all angles and my mind had no time to register just where they were all coming from. There’s something unprecedentedly lethal in his actions, strikes and moves as I was able to perceive up close and personal. The energy of someone who does not hesitate, even to kill as was required of him in service to his country, but will do so with the utmost conviction in a heartbeat. He has no hesitation about what he will do, no second-guessing, no doubt, no uncertainty. It is a frightening energy that you feel you cannot negotiate with. Elder White Wolf also packs more aggressive energy than anyone, to put it mildly.

I’ve seen the scars from all his missions and scraps on his body; they’re legit and Rambo-like.

His skill leaves with nowhere to go, no doubts to rise or entertain. It would be like trying to debate day being day and night being night. Hi skill from not only his past training, but also his past covert work are undeniable when face to face with him. Luckily he is also very kind, warm and caring, and very concerned about humankind’s condition.

He can take a joke about him and laugh with you. A fair man, good company. Appreciates honesty. Play straight with him and there’ll be no trouble. Be crooked and find out what happens.

With him, I find the best way to adapt is to be you, honestly. Show yourself to him (and I don’t mean in a flashing way) for he already sees what kind of a person you are. So why pretend?

“As polite as a flower, steadfast as a mountain and as relentless as fire”

There is something I’ve learned myself — you can only see in others to the depth that you are able to see in yourself. So, the more you  know yourself, the more you see in others. Thus, you are actually able to see and know more about someone else than they know about themselves. Funny, nun? But that’s the way it works. I can see the inner motivation and intention of almost everyone I meet, and they rarely know it themselves. Meaning that in some level I know them better than they do, but only on some level.

Then there is Elder White Wolf Von Atzingen. Sure I can see a lot about him but his depth is so much greater than mine that it is he who knows me better than I know myself. His motivations are deeper than anyone’s I know. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t make mistakes, we all do, but it is not always easy to understand his motivations because they are deeper and more profound than my own. Like a child trying to understand why grown-ups go to work. A deeper motivation.

His company I like. There’s nothing unnecessary, the game is open, the cat is on the table, the closet is open.

When first I met him, quickly I could feel the rare purity of motivation and intention that determine who he is. Such integrity I may have never found in a person. It appealed deeply with my sense of honor and integrity and felt to me as a trusty brotherhood. After that I have been fortunate to witness his caring and compassionate nature also. He’s a kind, polite and sensitive person and treats people discreetly and respectfully, and with a sense of humor. Elder White Wolf’s dedication to the things he cares for and appreciates is beyond measure. He’s a natural teacher. Elder White Wolf is the most dedicated and meticulous person in doing anything he does. His eye to detail as well as the big picture in any areas of his expertise is unparalleled. His mindset is unlike anyone else’s — sharp, perceptive, yet caring. I highly recommend his abilities. He is trustworthy beyond measure and doesn’t have a dishonest bone in his body. It is an honor to call him a friend, teacher and a business associate.

Pishck- founder of Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu

Picture
Late in the  year of 1871, Achmoe and Wisames of the Wolf Clan of Lenape had a son whom they named Pischk (Nighthawk). Achmoe was a son of the Lenni Lenape Chief that replaced Captain Pipe and was called Big Cat. The first few years of Pischk’s life were spent during a relaxed peaceful time.  One day, during the Lightning Moon (July), Manachewagon (the chief of the tribe) had a vision that foretold of a man of foreign blood and tongue who was to be brought to the tribe by his brother Machque Allanque.  So the tribe prepared for their strange visitor.  Nine months later during the Green Grass Moon (April), Machque Allanque arrived in this secret place hidden from the outside turmoil.  For Machque Allanque had a vision many moons back that he was to take this stranger to his brother’s tribe hidden deep in the mountains.  Three days after his tribe in Virginia was destroyed by soldiers, he and the stranger carefully left on their journey.  They barely escaped the battle and slaughter which took place in the land he called home for so many moons.

So there the tribe stood in the middle of their remote village and gazed upon this stranger Machque Allanque had brought to them.  This strange man was passed middle age and had long smooth hair pulled back to expose a dark skinned face with narrow eyes and thin lips.  Through many negotiations with the whites, Machque Allanque learned to speak the white language.  This narrow eyed stranger also spoke the white language in a very broken tongue.  So, the translations began after a ceremony was held to welcome this stranger of a higher vision whose coming was foretold.

Apparently, this stranger was a Japanese Samurai who fled persecution to hopefully save some of the old traditions of his samurai clan. (It was the time frame just before the Last Samurai Revolt in Japan)  He ended up stowing away on a ship bound for the Americas.  After he escaped detection upon landing, he fled inland to Virginia.  He found a band of native people who gave him food and shelter.  After Machque Allanque had his vision, he agreed to take this stranger to his brother’s tribe.  This journey was made forced and bitter after his tribe had been destroyed.

Meanwhile, Pischk had already begun the warrior training from his father.  The same training that in-part made the Lenni Lenape one of the most respected  tribes in history in the northeast.

It was decided that this Samurai could stay if he would teach Pischk the warrior ways of Japan.  Pischk, who was very large for his age, began his mixed training when he was four winters old.  He trained everyday for many moons.  He was being taught all the old ways of their beliefs, life and two warrior systems!  He was a busy young man.  In his early twenties he became a master in the Samurai system of Jujitsu as well as a true tribal warrior of the highest rank.  By this time he was said to have been huge for his people.  He stood roughly 6’4” and weighed around 235 pounds!  After Pischk reached this rank, the Samurai bid the tribe farewell and disappeared into the mountains never to be heard from again.  Pischk continued training.  He was said to be the best warrior to ever live with the tribes. It is said that due to his sheer size, energy level and spirit, his specialty animal style was the bear. His father would say that Pischk's hands were as large and powerful as that of bear paws, and as part of his training he would tear bark off trees and rip dead trees to pieces with his bare hands.

Soon after his Samurai teacher left, Pischk married a young woman named Wenamhok (Yellow Cloud).  She was the daughter of two members of the tribe whose names have long since been forgotten.  Together they lived with the tribe in peace.  In the year of 1896 during the Lightning Moon, Wenamhok gave birth to a son.  Pischk named him Meechgalanne (Hawk).

Meechgalanne- 2nd Elder of Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu

Picture
In the Lightning Moon of 1896 Meechgalanne was born deep in the mountains of what is now the Monongahela National Forest by a woman named Wenamhok (Yellow Cloud).  This was the son of the great Lenni Lenape warrior Pischk.  He called his son Meechgalanne (Hawk).  Meechgalanne was the Great Grandson of Big Cat. Pischk and his father Achmoe had great visions for Meechgalanne becoming a strong warrior who would carry on the tradition and blood line of the Lenni Lenape Wolf Clan of Warriors.

After the tribe's journey north to the Blue Ridge in the Pennsylvania Appalachians, Meechgalanne had about two winters before he would begin his warrior training.  When Meechgalanne turned four winters old Pischk, Achmoe and Kikey Nachgohuman began training him in the old ways.

At age four, the necessity and techniques of stretching were learned.  Also, the proper conditioning of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and skin were being branded into his brain and body.  Endurance was a constant element tied into his young life.  And then the actual techniques of the deadly fighting system that his father had perfected called Small Circles of Five Animals Jujitsu came into his studies.

When Elder White Wolf first met Meechgalanne he was 85 years old.  "His hair was thick, dark grey and pulled back in a high scalp lock.  Hanging from the back of his hair was a single red-tailed hawk feather.  He wore his family choker around his neck and an arm- band just above his left bicep.  His four layer thick deerskin knee high boot moccasins were worn with age.  For being 85 years old he stood surprisingly tall and sturdy. His movements were as smooth and controlled as a snake moving through water.  Strength vibrated from his very essence of life.  Sharp, sparkling, dark eyes stared out at the word like a hawk watching its quarry, a man and his spirit demanding respect from deep inside that scarred body wrapped in skin like leather.  For his life had been a hard and long search for something that he had just found that very day.  And that was the origin of that warm, large smile stretching across his face full of rapture.  He had accomplished a lot in his life but still had much to do.

"Through Meechgalanne’s training he was able to do many feats unimaginable to most people of today.  When he was just six winters old, he was able to run 18 miles without stopping.  His first vision quest was completed in this year as well.  At age seven he could track, stalk and kill rabbits, squirrels, fish, opossum, groundhogs and grouse with his bare hands.  Surviving in the wild without anything from his home, even clothes, was easy for him to do for days and weeks at a time.  By the time he had seen nine winters, he could "communicate" with the trees, winds and all the animals as easily as he could talk to the people in his tribe.

His first large kill was a deer.  After stalking and learning everything he could about the deer for two months, he killed it with a quartz rock knife he had made especially for that kill.  He was ten years old at the time.  By the age of 14, his fighting skills were outstanding.  He was afraid of nothing.  To sneak up on him was like trying to stalk up and touch a wolf in a barren field.  His knowledge and understanding of what was happening around him without being able to see anything was as clear as a mountain stream.  He could also sense if someone was near the tribe’s camp long before anyone could hear or see them.  Indeed, his senses and skills were definitely living up to his name.  He was becoming one with the spirit of the hawk."

When Meechgalanne reached his 20's he became then next Elder of Small Circles of 5 Animals Jujitsu. His father continued to train and advance the art, but he passed the title onto his son and they shared the title until Meechgalanne's father was killed many years later by a bullet. Meechgalanne was almost as tall as his father and for his people, quite large and muscular. Though he had the spirit of the hawk, his specialty animal style was the constrictor. Elder White Wolf says that once Meechgalanne he made contact with any part of his opponents body, he brought them into submission with frightening speed and skill, even in his 80's! He goes onto state once Meechgalanne had a hold of a person it felt like one was being crushed by a massive snake with no escape. Meechgalanne was a quite man who spoke only when necessary. His energy was smooth, deep and calm like a dark pool of water under an overcast autumn sky.

His father passed the art to him and Meechgalanne continued to study, practice and discover the ways of the art throughout his long life, passing away at 96 years old. It was in the year 1992, the year he died that he passed the art unto the new Elder, White Wolf Von Atzingen.

Part of Meechgalanne's life story can be found in the Element Mountain Wolf's Den book.
